Located on the side of a mountain near the town of Fethiye in southwestern Turkey, Kayakoy is an abandoned village that is now a tourist destination. It was the home of mostly Greek Christians until 1923. At that time the entire population was transferred to Greece according to the terms of a treaty settling a war between Greece and Turkey. Kayaköy is presumed to be the inspiration behind "Eskibahçe", the imaginary village chosen by Louis de Bernières as the setting of his 2004 novel Birds Without Wings. (Wikipedia)
